OUR
MISSION
MISSION & HISTORY
We understand that we have a lot to celebrate in Howard County. But, we also understand that when it comes to the statistics concerning African-Americans, we have a long way to go. The achievement gap is undeniable, African-Americans make up a significant portion of the uninsured in the county and in many cases, resources exist but many in the African-American community don’t know where to find them.
The African-American Community Roundtable is an active coalition of social, civic, professional, spiritual and cultural groups committed to enhancing the overall quality of life for African-Americans throughout Howard County. Through civic engagement and community service the AACR raises awareness, empowers residents and works toward reducing inequalities among African-Americans.
The mission of the African-American Community Roundtable is to improve the overall quality of life for African Americans throughout Howard County. To fulfill this mission, the AACR is focused on ensuring that families are connected to critical resources that ultimately empower residents and encourage social and economic well-being. The AACR facilitates discussions and initiatives with the goal of increasing access to opportunities for African-American families and help them gain full participation in the broader community.
